Student Involvement

George Mason University Esports

George Mason Esports offers Mason students the chance to get involved in both casual and competitive gaming. With 6 premier competitive games, students can try out to represent George Mason in Rocket League, Overwatch, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Call of Duty, or Valorant. We also support additional student-run teams at a non-premier level, giving even more games and communities a home within our program.

Super Smash fans can join other students in our weekly Smash tournaments held every Friday night. Just a casual gamer? Join us for community game nights, pick up games, watch parties, trivia nights, and many more opportunities to be a part of the George Mason Esports community.

Our Mission

George Mason Esports is a departmental student organization within Student Involvement that aspires to create an environment where students at George Mason University can connect with others and form a community around esports. We also aims to build student teams and foster player skill to compete in esports competitions at the collegiate level.

Premier

Premier teams receive the same competitive support as Varsity — dedicated managers, coaches, weekly streams, and facility access — without scholarship funding.

Non-Premier

Non-Premier teams compete in PCL and NACE leagues representing George Mason, with their own dedicated Discord channels. Don’t see your game? We’re always open to adding new titles.

Leadership Positions

Leadership Positions will be posted soon.

Getting Involved Beyond the Controller

George Mason Esports is more than just competitve gaming, there are plenty ways to contribute and build your skills while being part of the program. Whether you’re passionate about content creation, event production, or community management, we have a role for you.

Our volunteer positions include video editors who help produce highlight reels, recaps, or promotional content; Photo editors capture and polish visuals from events; and event volunteers who help set up, run, and wrap up everything. We also have casters who bring the energy and commentary to our live broadcasters; with dedicated spectators who help bring those moments to the casters and our audience.

Getting involved in one of these roles do not require experience; just a willingness to show up, contribute, and have fun.
