General Description:
This position offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain valuable leadership experience through marketing/promotion, assessing students needs/interests, collaboration, and customer service in working with campus films. Weekend (Thursdays-Sundays) work is required.
Qualifications:
- Ability to be responsible, flexible, take initiative and be a self starter in handling responsibilities
- Ability to relate to and communicate professionally with people from diverse backgrounds
- Desire to engage the Mason community in films through promotion, assessing needs/interests, and collaborating across campus
- Ability to represent Student Involvement in a positive and professional manner
- Minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA required
- Applicants must be in good academic and judicial standing
- Must be an undergraduate student at Mason
- Must be able to work Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 5:00pm-12 Midnight and Sundays 2:00pm-9:00pm in rotation with other Films Assistants
Overview of Areas of Responsibility:
- Coordinate film showing including securing film, operating Johnson Center Cinema equipment, and connecting with Events Production as needed to resolve any issues with equipment operation
- Serve as ID checkers and collect money for student, faculty, staff, and community admission into films
- Prepare and serve concessions such as popcorn, candy, and sodas
- Provide answers to questions and resolve issues and concerns quickly for film patrons
- Generate ideas and solicit ideas/interests from general student body population for film selection
- Distribute/Implement promotional materials/strategies for films through a variety of mediums
- Promote and distribute loyalty program information to patrons
- Distribute film experience evaluations to patrons
- Attend Weekly Film Team Meetings
- Attend Fall and Spring Weekend Team Retreats
- Assist with overall Weekends @ Mason programming efforts as needed; Friday Night Events/Collaborations, Saturday Night Events, Mason on Location, Large Events, Theme Weekends, Film Programming, etc.
Commitment:
- An average of six to twelve (8-14) hours per week. Position starts August 19, 2012 and ends May 10, 2013.
Compensation:
- $8 per hour paid bi-weekly
